Breaking the Taboo – Everything You Need to Know About the Drug War

Breaking the Taboo (2011) – A Global Drug War Film
Narrated by Oscar winning actor Morgan Freeman, “Breaking the Taboo” takes a critical look at how after 50 years of prohibition, illicit drugs are now the third most valuable industry in the world after food and oil.

Featuring interviews with several current or former presidents from around the world, such as Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter, the film follows The Global Commission on Drug Policy on a mission to break the political taboo over the United States led War on Drugs and expose what it calls the biggest failure of global policy in the last 40 years.

  1. Thanks for sharing this! I wanted to watch this documentary, but wasn’t aware that I could watch it on you tube. It was very informative. I shared it on FB, as well. 🙂

    • You are very welcome! This film pretty much says it all. I can’t imagine anyone who views this documentary not leaving with clearer perspective about how our current drug policy is hurting us as whole.

      • Agreed! I actually teared up when Switzerland’s leader (I think) was asking “who are these addicts?” And answering with “our children.” They are helping addicts as they are and meeting them on their own terms and treating them like the human beings that they are and it warms my heart. Addiction is a medical issue that should be addressed in the medical community!!!
